Candace Stone

Candace Stone drifts into the edges of Joe Goldberg's new life like a rumor he can't explain away. An ex-girlfriend he describes as unstable, she appears in glimpses—at a bar, through a window—unsettling his careful narration of himself. She wants proximity to Joe, or answers from him, and refuses to stay buried in his past.

The show hands us Joe's version of Candace first, and Ambyr Childers plays against it with a watchfulness that never confirms his story. She's often silent, observed rather than heard, which makes every appearance a small provocation to the audience's trust in the narrator. That tension is the character's whole engine.
