Camille Braverman

Camille Braverman is matriarch to the sprawling, loud Braverman clan, married for decades to Zeek and mother to four grown children whose lives keep spilling back into her own. She's an artist who long ago set her own ambitions aside, gracious and steady, the one everyone calls when a crisis needs calming rather than stirring up.

Bonnie Bedelia plays Camille with a quiet watchfulness that suggests a whole interior life the family rarely asks about. The show is generous with its noisy patriarch and his children, but it's Camille's low-key restlessness — the sense of a woman renegotiating what she still wants for herself — that gives the marriage its texture.
