Cal Abar

Cal Abar is Angela Abar's husband, a soft-spoken stay-at-home father raising their kids in Tulsa while she works nights as a detective he believes patrols the streets under a hood. He cooks, worries, keeps the household steady, and seems entirely, almost suspiciously, at peace with an ordinary life.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays domestic contentment so warmly and specifically that it becomes its own kind of mystery — you start watching him the way you'd watch a locked door. The show trusts stillness, and he fills it with tenderness that never quite explains itself, which is the whole point.
