Broadcaster

The Broadcaster shows up whenever Futurama needs someone to call the action, usually for Blernsball, New New York's future national pastime. He talks fast, loves the game more than anyone watching it, and treats absurd future sports with the same booming sincerity a real announcer gives to a pennant race.

He's a pure delivery mechanism for parody, and DiMaggio's gravelly, motor-mouthed energy sells every ridiculous rule and impossible play call as if it were Game Seven. The joke isn't the character himself so much as the total commitment—no wink, no slowing down, just relentless, gleeful sportscaster patter applied to nonsense.
