Bob

Bob is a pillow — literally an ordinary cushion pressed into service as a stand-in during group therapy exercises — who, in the world of Big Mouth, turns out to have opinions, patience, and a soft, unbothered voice of his own. He listens more than he talks, and mostly just wants everyone to breathe.

The joke is the premise: a piece of furniture given interiority and a calm, deadpan delivery in a show built on shrieking hormone monsters and shame demons. Fred Armisen plays him with such gentle, unhurried sincerity that Bob becomes an oasis of absurd serenity amid the chaos, funnier for never raising his voice.
