Blue Elder

Blue Elder is one of a trio of ancient, godlike beings who sit in judgment over the universe from some remote celestial vantage point. Robed, calm, and vaguely bureaucratic, he speaks with the flat authority of someone who has watched every civilization rise and fall and finds most of it faintly tedious.

Futurama's gift for deflating cosmic grandeur into office-meeting dryness lands perfectly on Blue Elder, and Billy West plays him with the same weary, matter-of-fact cadence he gives to half the show's cast — omniscience delivered like a man clocking out early. The joke is that ultimate power looks a lot like middle management.
