Bidder

Bidder shows up exactly where the name suggests: at an auction, paddle in hand, ready to throw down money for something Fry, Leela, or Bender desperately wants. He's competitive, mercenary, and entirely unbothered by the chaos he causes for the show's actual heroes.

Futurama loves populating its background with these single-purpose gag characters, and Bidder is a small, efficient joke: a stranger whose only trait is wanting the same thing the leads want, at the worst possible moment. David Herman's flat, businesslike delivery makes the rivalry funnier by refusing to treat it as anything but routine.
