Bhagavan Antle

Doc Antle runs Myrtle Beach Safari, a South Carolina wildlife park stocked with tigers, ligers and a rotating staff of young women he calls his students. He appears as one of Joe Exotic's rivals in the big-cat world, silk-shirted and serene, speaking in soft, guru-like cadences about animals and devotion.

The documentary lets him talk, and that's enough. His self-presentation as a mystic breeder of endangered cats sits next to a very different picture assembled by former employees and undercover footage, and the gap between the two is where the show finds its unease. Antle himself never breaks character, which is exactly what makes him unsettling.
