Character
Beth Smith
Beth Smith in Rick and Morty (2013), played by Sarah Chalke.
Beth is a horse surgeon holding together a marriage to Jerry and a household upended by her father Rick's return. She's sharp, capable, and quick to defend Rick even when his chaos endangers her kids, caught between loyalty to the brilliant man who abandoned her and the ordinary life she's built.
Sarah Chalke plays Beth's brittle competence with real ache underneath it, letting flashes of Rick's nihilism and cruelty surface in her own voice without ever fully tipping into either parent's extreme. The show uses her to ask an unglamorous question — what does it cost to be the stable one — and Chalke never lets the answer feel easy.
Bethany "Beth" Smith (née Sanchez) (born May 15, 1970) is one of the central characters in the show Rick and Morty. Beth is an Indigenous Latina American and European-American woman. She is a horse surgeon, and, as Rick's daughter, she is intelligent if sometimes cold. She is voiced by Sarah Chalke.
