Character
Beth
Beth in Rick and Morty (2013), played by Sarah Chalke.
Beth Smith is Rick's daughter, Jerry's wife, and mother to Morty and Summer — a horse surgeon holding a fraying suburban household together while her father's reappearance drags the family into interdimensional chaos. Sharp, defensive, and quietly unhappy, she drinks a bit too much wine and insists everything is fine.
Sarah Chalke gives Beth a brittle, exhausted warmth that keeps her sympathetic even when she's dismissive or cruel. The writing uses her as the show's clearest mirror of Rick's nihilism and narcissism, and her unresolved need for his approval quietly explains half the family's dysfunction without ever spelling it out.
Bethany "Beth" Smith (née Sanchez) (born May 15, 1970) is one of the central characters in the show Rick and Morty. Beth is an Indigenous Latina American and European-American woman. She is a horse surgeon, and, as Rick's daughter, she is intelligent if sometimes cold. She is voiced by Sarah Chalke.
