Bessie Potter

Bessie is Joey Potter's much older sister, the one who stayed in Capeside and built a life while their father sat in prison. She waits tables and manages the restaurant on the town's docks, pregnant and unmarried at the story's start, steady and unglamorous where the teenagers around her are anything but.

Nina Repeta plays the show's rare adult who isn't a plot device or a punchline — tired, practical, quietly proud. Bessie's scenes ground Dawson's Creek's talkier romantic spirals in something closer to real life: rent, work, a sister to raise. She works because the show trusts her to be ordinary and lets that be enough.
