Bertram Gilfoyle

Gilfoyle is Pied Piper's systems architect, a bearded, black-clad presence who treats every conversation as beneath his notice and every server as sacred. He is a self-declared Satanist, endlessly, calmly contemptuous, and locked in a running war of insults with his desk-mate Dinesh. He wants competence around him and clearly doesn't expect to find it.

Martin Starr underplays everything, which is the joke: the flatter and quieter he delivers a line, the more devastating it lands. The writing trusts him with total dryness, no exclamation points, no eyebrow raises, and he turns withering minimalism into the show's most reliable laugh, especially in duet with Dinesh.
