Ben Wood

Ben Wood arrives in Judy's orbit as the gentle opposite of everything she's used to: sober, sincere, a little awkward, and visibly smitten with her almost on sight. He restores stained glass for a living, speaks carefully, and seems to mean every word he says, which throws Judy completely off balance.

James Marsden plays Ben and his twin brother Steve, and the trick isn't the resemblance but the total absence of it in manner — the same face made to read as open, unguarded, almost childlike in its honesty. Watching him build something soft and trustworthy with features you've already learned to read as dangerous is quietly unsettling in the best way.
