Becky

Becky is Andy's girlfriend, and later wife, doing her best to be patient with a partner whose true passion lies buried in muddy Essex fields with a metal detector. She's practical, warm, and a little bemused by the whole detecting world, wanting Andy to focus on things that might actually pay the bills.

Rachael Stirling gives Becky a lovely, grounded warmth that keeps the show's whimsy tethered to real life. She's never a nag or an obstacle, just a person with her own reasonable priorities, and the show's gentle comedy lets her affection for Andy read as genuine even when she's rolling her eyes at him.
