Basil

Basil turns up in New New York as one of Futurama's parade of minor officials and background eccentrics, the kind of face that pops up behind a bench or a desk to deliver a ruling, a warning, or a bit of nonsense before vanishing again into the crowd of Century City weirdos.

Maurice LaMarche, already doing heavy lifting elsewhere in the cast, brings his gift for pompous, fully committed voices to even the smallest parts, and Basil is proof that Futurama's world feels lived-in precisely because nobody, however minor, is voiced as an afterthought.
