He appears for a single scene, hawking barrels with the manic conviction of a man who has found his true calling. He wants to sell Fry and the crew a barrel, any barrel, and he will not be talked out of it. Enthusiasm is his entire personality.

Futurama's gift is treating throwaway gags like this one with total commitment, and Billy West gives the Barrel Salesman a booming, joyous sincerity that makes a joke about buying a barrel feel like the funniest transaction imaginable. It is a blink-and-you-miss-it bit that rewards rewatching precisely because of how hard he sells it.
