Balloon Operator

He appears for a moment, tending some enormous parade balloon in a crowd scene, a nobody with a job to do amid the chaos of a New New York celebration. He speaks his few lines and vanishes, exactly the kind of background figure Futurama loves to hand a surprising amount of voice to.

The joke is entirely in the incongruity: Maurice LaMarche pours his booming, movie-trailer baritone into a character whose entire function is holding a balloon string. It's a blink-and-you-miss-it bit that rewards close listening, the kind of throwaway vocal flourish that makes Futurama's background rich even when nobody on screen matters.
