Aunty Peg turns up in Josh's life as the sensible older relative who gets on with things while everyone else falls apart. Practical, a little blunt, and unfazed by crisis, she steps in to help look after family without much fuss, treating disaster as something to be managed rather than mourned.

Judi Farr plays her with dry, unhurried warmth, letting Peg's matter-of-factness become the show's quiet counterweight to its more anxious, self-dramatising young people. She's funny almost by accident, delivering blunt truths in the same tone she'd use to ask if you've eaten, and the effect is oddly comforting.
