Armin Arlert

Armin is a small, timid boy in the walled town of Shiganshina, more likely to be found reading about the outside world than defending himself from bullies. He dreams of the sea and the lands beyond the walls, and relies on his loyal friends Eren and Mikasa to protect him while he supplies the ideas.

The show sets him up as the group's weakest link, easily dismissed as a liability, and then keeps proving that his mind is the sharpest weapon anyone has. Marina Inoue plays his fear as real rather than decorative, so every moment he pushes through it into a plan lands as genuine, hard-won courage rather than a switch flipped.
