Appa Kim

Appa runs Kim's Convenience, the family variety store, with strict opinions, a wary eye for shoplifters, and a habit of sizing up every customer's ethnicity for sport. He's a proud, stubborn Korean immigrant father, still not quite reconciled with his estranged son, doling out life lessons and discounts in equal, grudging measure.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee could easily play this as a stock cranky-dad type, but he finds real tenderness under the bluster — the comic timing on 'Appa logic' lands because you can see the affection driving it. He turns a shopkeeper's gruffness into something genuinely moving without ever softening the character's edges.
