Anya Forger

Anya is a six-year-old at the center of a household none of whom know the others' secrets: her adoptive father is a spy, her adoptive mother an assassin, and Anya herself a telepath who reads it all. She wants a family, and to get into a prestigious school so that family can stay together. She fakes normalcy badly and enthusiastically.

The joke is always the gap between what Anya knows and what she can safely admit to knowing, and Tanezaki plays that gap with a squeaky, motormouthed delight that never curdles into cynicism. She's a small child pretending competence in an adult world of lies, and the show trusts her wide-eyed panic to be funnier than any punchline.
