Anthony Bridgerton

As the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony carries the weight of the viscountcy and his late father's shoes with grim determination. Fiercely protective of his sisters, especially Daphne's marriage prospects, he keeps his own romantic ambitions coldly practical — a suitable wife, no messy feelings required — while indulging a rakish reputation that suggests he doesn't quite believe his own rules.

Jonathan Bailey plays the control freak whose control is clearly a performance, letting cracks show in Anthony's clipped propriety long before the character admits anything to himself. The writing hands him real stakes — duty, grief, a family depending on him — and Bailey turns starchy authority into something wounded and watchable, making his eventual undoing feel earned rather than sudden.
