Anjou

Anjou is Catherine de Medici's favored son, a young man who moves through the French court with a dandyish flair and an easy charm that masks real ambition. He knows exactly how much his mother adores him and uses it, angling for influence and affection in equal measure while rivals and siblings watch warily.

Stanley Morgan plays him with a wink, all silk and self-amusement, so the character's vanity never curdles into mere cruelty — you like him even as you clock how calculating he is. The writing lets him be funny and dangerous in the same breath, a court favorite whose charisma is clearly also a weapon.
