Angela Darmody

Angela Darmody is a young mother in Atlantic City, married to Jimmy but starved for a life she can't quite name. She sketches, paints, and dreams of Paris while her husband disappears into the rackets. Restless and watchful, she wants more than the house and the child she's been given.

Palladino plays longing as a quiet, almost embarrassed thing, all held breath and sideways glances, which makes Angela's suppressed desires land harder than any speech could. The show gives her an inner life most gangster wives never get, and she uses it to suggest a whole unlived existence just under the surface.
