Angela Burr runs a small, underfunded intelligence unit obsessed with bringing down arms dealer Richard Roper, a man the establishment would rather leave alone. Heavily pregnant, sharp-eyed and unglamorous, she works the edges of official channels, recruiting an ex-soldier as her inside man. She is patient, exacting, and impossible to shake off once she has a target.

Colman plays Burr without a trace of thriller-genre swagger — cardigans, tea, a soft Yorkshire patience that makes her relentlessness sneak up on you. The writing gives her competence without glamour, letting her outthink slicker men simply by refusing to blink first. She turns bureaucratic doggedness into something quietly heroic, and very watchable.
