Andy Renko walks a rough beat in a battered patrol car, cowboy hat pushed back, sidearm ready, mouth quicker than his judgment. Partnered with Bobby Hill, he is brash, quick to bristle, and quick to laugh, a street cop who trusts instinct over procedure and treats his partner as the one steady thing in a chaotic precinct.

Charles Haid plays the swagger straight, so the bravado never curdles into cartoon: underneath the drawl and the hat is a man genuinely rattled by the violence he polices. The show uses his partnership with Bobby Hill to test whether two very different men can actually trust each other, and Haid makes every small concession to that trust feel earned.
