Andy is the unemployed ex-boyfriend of April's friend Ann, still living in the pit that will eventually become a park while he recovers from an injury he got falling into it. He's cheerful, dim, and utterly unbothered by his own uselessness, mostly just wanting his old band and his old girlfriend back.

Chris Pratt plays him with such sunny, guileless commitment that a character who could read as a lazy mooch becomes instead the show's purest source of joy. The writing keeps finding new dumb schemes for him, and Pratt never lets you see the joke coming from him — only at him, warmly.
