Andrew "Andy" Parker

Andy is a junior footman at Downton, eager to do well and quick to worry when he thinks he isn't. He's friendly and a little awkward, keen on Daisy though unsure how to say so, and anxious about being thought slow or unrefined next to the household's older, more polished staff.

The show lets him be ordinary in a house full of scheming and grandeur, and that's the charm: his embarrassment over his reading, his nerves around Daisy, his hunger for approval from Mr. Carson. Michael Fox plays the self-consciousness so plainly that his small victories feel like real ones.
