Andre "Junior" Johnson Jr.

Junior is the oldest Johnson kid, an awkward, earnest teenager who is nothing like his image-conscious father wants him to be. He's more comfortable geeking out over comics or fantasy football than sports, and he's figuring out his own identity — racial, social, romantic — often out loud and at length.

Scribner plays Junior's uncoolness with total sincerity, which is what makes him funny rather than pitiable. The show uses him to needle Dre's assumptions about masculinity and blackness without turning him into a punchline, and Scribner's deadpan earnestness sells even the character's most overwrought monologues.
