Amy Wong-Kroker

Amy Wong is the Planet Express intern, a wealthy engineering student who works the ship's controls with more skill than anyone gives her credit for. She's blunt, easily bored, obsessed with gossip and shopping, and treats the apocalyptic dangers of delivery work with the shrugging nonchalance of someone who's never had to worry about money.

Lauren Tom plays Amy's ditziness as armor rather than emptiness — underneath the Valley-girl cadence is a genuinely gifted engineer who just refuses to perform competence for anyone's approval. The show lets her be shallow and sharp at once, and that contradiction, delivered with total comic confidence, is what keeps her funny instead of flat.
