Amy Santiago

Amy Santiago is a detective at the 99th Precinct who color-codes her binders, memorizes the penal code for fun, and has wanted Captain Holt's approval since the day she arrived. She's fiercely competitive, especially with Jake Peralta, and treats every task—even filing—as a chance to prove she's the best cop in the room.

The joke could easily be "uptight woman, loosen up," but the writing and Fumero refuse that flattening: Amy's ambition and rule-following are never punished or cured, just gently teased, so her competence stays the point. Fumero plays the intensity utterly straight, which is exactly why it's funny.
