Amy Dubanowski

Amy is a floor supervisor at the Cloud 9 superstore, a job she's held so long that competence has curdled into low-grade exhaustion. She's sharp, funny in a tired way, and has clearly seen every kind of customer and corporate nonsense the place can produce. She wants out, or at least something more, but hasn't figured out how yet.

America Ferrera plays her with the specific weariness of someone smart enough to know exactly how absurd her situation is, which makes her the show's grounding wire. The writing lets her be prickly and unglamorous rather than a workplace-sitcom sweetheart, and that honesty about retail life is what makes her funny and likable at once.
