Amy Brookheimer is the Vice President's chief of staff, permanently attached to her phone and permanently one crisis behind. She wants Selina Meyer to win, to be competent, to be handled — and spends her days trying to force order onto a boss and an office that resist it at every turn. Sharp, exhausted, and rarely thanked.

Chlumsky plays the strain of competence surrounded by idiots without ever tipping into cartoon, so her exasperation lands as genuinely earned rather than a punchline. The writing gives her real political savvy and then buries it under an office that never lets her use it properly, which is where the show's cruelty and its comedy both live.
