Alex Louis Armstrong

Major Alex Louis Armstrong announces himself before he arrives, ripping off his shirt to flex sculpted muscles that sparkle for no reason anyone can explain. Known as the Strong Arm Alchemist, he serves the military with booming pride, weeps freely at any display of kindness or courage, and treats the Elric brothers with a gentleness that outsizes his enormous frame.

The joke is that a man built like a tank is the softest heart in the cast, and the show never lets that contradiction curdle into mockery. Kenji Utsumi's performance leans fully into the bombast, all thunderous declarations and sudden tears, so that when Armstrong's sincerity turns out to be entirely genuine, the laugh becomes affection.
