Alex

Alex is a housemate in the Big Brother compound when the outside world starts to fall apart, one face among the contestants competing for airtime, allies and the public's affection. Ambitious and image-conscious, she plays the game as she knows it, unaware the rules are about to change entirely.

Liz May Brice plays Alex with the brittle confidence of someone who has trained herself for cameras, which makes Dead Set's premise land harder: reality television's artificial pressures suddenly colliding with real, mortal stakes. Watching that performed poise crack under actual danger gives the satire its bite.
