Albert "Pops" Solomon

Pops is Beverly's father, a shaggy, retired free spirit who parks himself at the Goldberg house dispensing wisdom that's half wisdom, half nonsense. He's divorced, unbothered by convention, and treats his grandkids more like drinking buddies than dependents, egging on their worst schemes with a grin and zero adult supervision.

George Segal plays him with a loose, twinkly ease that cuts against the show's frantic 80s-sitcom energy — Pops is the one adult who never raises his voice or panics, just ambles in with a one-liner and a life lesson disguised as a joke. He's the family's soft landing.
