Albert Blithe

Albert Blithe is a young private with Easy Company, dropped into Normandy on D-Day and immediately overwhelmed by the chaos of it. Quiet and inward, he freezes under fire, struck by a kind of battle paralysis that frightens him more than the Germans do. He wants, simply, to be brave enough.

Marc Warren plays fear as something physical and shaming rather than dramatic, which is rarer and truer than the usual battlefield heroics. The scripts give him a genuinely strange, haunted monologue about seeing things clearly for the first time, and Warren delivers it like a man surprised by his own thoughts. It's a small, unglamorous performance that lingers.
