Agent 99

Agent 99 is a CONTROL operative partnered with the accident-prone Maxwell Smart, and the more competent of the pair by a wide margin. She's cool under pressure, quick with a plan, and endlessly patient with her partner's fumbling. She wants the mission done right, even if it means quietly fixing his mistakes.

The joke of the show is that the woman with no name is the sharpest person in every room, and Barbara Feldon plays that with a straight face instead of a wink. She never mugs for the audience or condescends to Max; her competence is just fact, delivered dryly, which makes the satire land harder than shouting ever could.
