Additional Voices

Not a single character but a credit line: the odd background alien, a passing announcer, a one-off crank who wanders through Planet Express for a scene and vanishes. Whoever needs a voice and doesn't need a name gets one from this pool, usually gruff, often absurd, gone before the plot notices them.

Maurice LaMarche is one of animation's great chameleons, and burying him in 'additional voices' is its own joke — the same guy who can do a booming Orson Welles impression is also happily disposable, one more gargle in the crowd. Futurama's world feels dense because throwaway lines like these are never thrown away on someone untalented.
