Adam Sackler

Adam is Hannah's casual, semi-committed fling turned something more complicated—a struggling actor with a woodworking hobby, living sparsely in Brooklyn, sober and proud of it. He's blunt to the point of rudeness, deeply uninterested in performing niceness, and moves through intimacy with an intensity that unsettles Hannah as much as it draws her in.

Driver plays Adam's strangeness completely straight, refusing to signal whether he's dangerous, sincere, or both, which keeps every scene unresolved in an exciting way. The writing gives him a physical unpredictability—his body language does the talking his dialogue withholds—so his tenderness lands as a genuine surprise rather than a softening.
