Abraham Lincoln's Head

A relic of the 19th century bobbing gently in a jar of preservative fluid, Lincoln's head is one of the many disembodied "Heads in Jars" that populate Futurama's far-future New New York. He turns up at ceremonies and civic occasions, dispensing solemn, folksy wisdom with the gravity of a man who still believes he's addressing a nation.

The joke is structural: history's most revered orator reduced to a talking bust wheeled out for ribbon-cuttings, and the writing lets him deliver Lincoln-cadenced gravitas about utterly trivial futuristic nonsense without ever winking at the audience. Billy West and Maurice LaMarche both play the solemnity completely straight, which is exactly what makes the absurdity land.
