Aarfy

Aarfy is Yossarian's navigator and tent-mate, a stout, beaming presence who treats the war as a minor inconvenience between reminiscences of fraternity dances back home. He gets planes lost without apparent worry, chats about girls in courtly, old-fashioned terms, and radiates a cheerfulness that never quite matches what's happening around him.

The comedy of Aarfy is how thoroughly he refuses to register danger, and Rafi Gavron plays that obliviousness with such warm, untroubled sincerity that it becomes genuinely unsettling rather than merely funny. He's the show's quietest reminder that not everyone in the war is frightened by the same things — or for the same reasons.
