Aabis

Aabis is bound to young Catherine de Medici as a servant, closer to a keeper than a friend, present through the years before Catherine's rise to power. She watches, tends, and endures at Catherine's side, her own wants folded beneath the demands of someone else's survival.

Amrita Acharia plays the quiet arithmetic of servitude without ever making Aabis pitiable — there's flint under the deference. The show gives her proximity to power without any of its comforts, and she uses that gap to suggest a whole interior life the script only gestures toward, which makes her impossible to look away from.
