3-D Andrew

In the multiverse of Andrews that Big Mouth conjures up, 3-D Andrew is a variation on the show's original neurotic teen: awkward, horny, achingly eager to be liked, and never quite able to stop himself from saying the most mortifying thing in any room. He wants a girlfriend, approval, and relief from his own hormones.

John Mulaney's clipped, anxious cadence is so recognizable that even a reshuffled version of Andrew lands instantly — the neediness and self-loathing sound exactly the same no matter what dimension he's dropped into. The joke is how durable the character's humiliation is; Mulaney plays panic as a permanent condition, which makes every new Andrew funny in the same familiar, cringing way.
